' Custody ' IFFK -2017 Day # 8

'Custody' directed by Xavier Legrand( France ).

This is a movie in which  Ms. Miriam,a mother of two is struggling to get divorce from her husband, Mr. Antoine. The husband wishes to get back with the family and claims that his son needs him.

Very nice acting, by all the characters. Must say, the expressions of the child playing the role of Mr. Antoine's and Ms. Miriam's son is just amazing. The story shows a struggle that Mr. Antoine's family is going through, in order to get separated from him.

The representation of the concept is done well. Mr. Antoine is shown as a person whose anger is too dangerous and sometimes irrelevant. His loneliness and staying away from family members makes him behave like an insane. He is even shown to ask forgiveness to Miriam. But all goes in waste when each time he screws up things and creates a mess because of his anger and misunderstandings.

Miriam wants to get of his cruelty, and reaches at point where Antoine tries to shoot her and her son. Situation goes so violent that finally , he gets caught by the police. Miriam and her kids hopefully can now be fine.

The message given in this movie is that; love and understanding is the base for any relationship. If you don't respect your partner as a human, then you will lose them for sure.

Strikes ? Hartals ? Bandhs ?  It takes a few seconds for me, to recollect and understand the difference between strikes, bandhs and hartals. But yes I must say, when you speak about the beauty of Kerala you cannot miss your thoughts on the ' Hartal state'. Most of the time people in India use this as their medium to communicate, or to convey their pain, or even their demands. What makes me wonder is, is this the only way? Shutting down shops, burning of buses,cancelling trains etc, are these the only things that we can do? Injustice for Justice ???

The Central government has cleared the elevation of senior lawyer Indu Malhotra as the Supreme Court judge. By this elevation she becomes the first women lawyer to become the judge of the Apex court directly by the recommendation of the bar. The elevation of Justice KM Joseph of the Uttarakhand High Court is kept on hold. The file of the collegium recommendation was sent to the Apex court on 22 nd of January 2018, and the processing was over by the first week of February 2018. But the decision was kept on abeyance as Justice KM Joseph could not be elevated....
