The All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) have decided to introduce a new clause in its Model Nikahnama or marriage contract. It says that the groom will have to take a pledge that he will not give instant divorce to his wife. This pledge needs to be in written.

This step by the AIMPLB is infact a major move towards the betterment of Muslim women all over India. Women can now be at peace as all of a sudden they will not experience any breakage in their married life. This is another example to show that the male dominated society is changing its path for a better cause.

The AIMPLB had a plenery meeting in Hyderabad from February 9 to February 11. In this meeting they discussed the instant triple talaq matters. They also discussed the issues related to Babri Masjid which was scheduled for hearing from February 8th in the Supreme court. It was a very crucial meeting as the board is all set to work towards finalizing its roadways towards the protection of Muslim personal law. Over 600 muslim scholars had joined in as delegates for this meeting. They also discussed about the portection of muslim personal laws and other pending muslim cases in the court. The charges involved in these stocks of court cases were also a topic of discussion. The board also reviewed the Parliament decision for instant triple talaq.

"The Board has already said that anyone who practices triple talaq will face social boycott. Further, to put an end to this practice, we propose to add another clause in the 'Model Nikahnama' where the man will pledge not to give instant triple talaq. This amendment will reduce the number of triple talaq cases.", said Mr. Rahimuddin Ansari AIMPLB convener and general secretary.

Ansari also made it clear that the meeting intends to spread an awareness that instant triple talaq is against Islam and the law of the country.

The BJP-led central government is trying to pass the triple talaq bill in Rajya Sabha. As per this bill any Muslim husband giving instant triple talaq to his wife will be punished with three years imprisonment.

Strikes ? Hartals ? Bandhs ?  It takes a few seconds for me, to recollect and understand the difference between strikes, bandhs and hartals. But yes I must say, when you speak about the beauty of Kerala you cannot miss your thoughts on the ' Hartal state'. Injustice for Justice ???

The Central government has cleared the elevation of senior lawyer Indu Malhotra as the Supreme Court judge. By this elevation she becomes the first women lawyer to become the judge of the Apex court directly by the recommendation of the bar. The elevation of Justice KM Joseph of the Uttarakhand High Court is kept on hold. The file of the collegium recommendation was sent to the Apex court on 22 nd of January 2018, and the processing was over by the first week of February 2018. But the decision was kept on abeyance as Justice KM Joseph could not be elevated....
