Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Congress with the help of a quote from poet Bashir Badr's poem. It changed the ambience in the debating environment in the Parliament during the Motion of Thanks for the Presidents' address in the Parliament in first week if February 2018.

This was in response to the quote that Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge used to hit the Modi government. Kharge mentioned the following Urdu quotes, " Dushmani jamkar karo lekin ye gunjaish rahe, jab kabhi hum dost ho jaayen toh sharminda naa ho." ( Keep making enemity to the core, but do remember that it doesn't make you ashamed when we become friends again).

It was to this, that PM Narendra Modi replied from the same verse from the same Urdu poet Bashir Badr, "Jee bahut chahta hai sach bolein, kya karein haunsla nahi hoti". ( What can I do as I wish to tell the truth, but can't find courage to do so).

Bashir Badr appears to be quite popular among the Congress leaders and also their favorite as Congress President Rahul Gandhi had also used Bashir Badr's quote when he was addressing and election rally in Almora, Uttarakhand in December 2016. The quote used by Rahul Gandhi was quite a bitter one. He mentioned, " Log loot jaate hain ek ghar banane mein, tum taras nahin khaate bastiyaan jalane mein". (People loose all their wealth while making a house for their living, but you dont feel pity in burning their settlements). While talking to reporters today outside Parliament he said that Modi government has been in power for four years, but still keeps questioning the Opposition instead of answering the house. He also feels there is corruption in Rafale deal, as Mr. Modi is keeping it as a secret.

Today Narendra Modi spoke for 90 minutes and throughout he experienced slogans by the opposition party and it perturbed his speech, but he continued with it. He openly led the Congress responsible for the poor state of the Parliament. He said, " Not a single day has passed when the country has suffered due to the poison sowed by you". He continued the same tone of talk in Rajya Sabha as well. He insisted that he wishes to see Gandhiji's India, as Gandhiji had long said that there will be no need of any Congress after independence.
