Mediotsav - 2k18 Day #2.


The second day of Mediotsav began with a fresh and new energy on the 9th of March  2018, at the Tagore Theatre in Vazhkuthakaud. The student participants were very excited to experience a new day with many entertaining competitions lined up.

The competitions held on the second day were RJ hunt, News Reporting, Cartooning, Photo Caption and Debate. Initially the number of participants were bit less compared to the first day, but later many more students joined in.

The prizes of only RJ hunt, Debate and News Reporting was announced, and remaining results were awaited for the next day. The RJ hunt was won by Arya Balakrishnan from Trivandrum Press Club. The debate competition was won by a team of two, Ananthu Nair and Arun Kumar from Karyavattom Campus and the News reporting was won by Ashwathy Nair also from Karyavattom Campus. Jose Tom and Vikas Govind from Trivandrum Press Club won the third prize in Debate competition.

The day ended with felicitations of various hardworking and recognized photographers. The prize distribution was announced to be on the next day i.e. 10th of March 2018 at 6pm.

Such events definitely help the students to nourish their talents and remove stage fear. It acted as a booster and refreshment for many who were busy with their tight academic schedules.

Why Strikes ? Hartals ? Bandhs ?

Strikes ? Hartals ? Bandhs ?  It takes a few seconds for me, to recollect and understand the difference between strikes, bandhs and hartals. But yes I must say, when you speak about the beauty of Kerala you cannot miss your thoughts on the ' Hartal state'. Most of the time people in India use this as their medium to communicate, or to convey their pain, or even their demands. What makes me wonder is, is this the only way? Shutting down shops, burning of buses,cancelling trains etc, are these the only things that we can do? Injustice for Justice ???

                                               Image Courtesy: livelaw.in Ms. Indu Malhotra elevates as the First women judge to directly reach the Apex court, but Justice KM Joseph not elevated. The Central government has cleared the elevation of senior lawyer Indu Malhotra as the Supreme Court judge. By this elevation she becomes the first women lawyer to become the judge of the Apex court directly by the recommendation of the bar. The elevation of Justice KM Joseph of the Uttarakhand High Court is kept on hold. The file of the collegium recommendation was sent to the Apex court on 22 nd of January 2018, and the processing was over by the first week of February 2018. But the decision was kept on abeyance as Justice KM Joseph could not be elevated....
